N.B. It should be noted that the police reports were only drawn up in August 1942 some 8 months after the surrender. Every effort has been made to clear up discrepancies, natural in any event, particularly as regard dates and times but complete accuracy may not have been achieved. When it has not been possibl to establish the time of a particular event or where action has been contin- uous throughout the day a dash (-) has been recorded in the "time" column, and the incident has been inserted in an apparently appropriate position.

Small bomb exploded in side lane near Waterloo Road between Shanghai Street and Reclamation Street. There were no casualties and little damaj A similar report was received a little earlier of a bomb explosion near Yen Chow Street, Sham Shui Po, also with no casualties.

foot of Hung Hom Station.

Kowloon City 03.00 Seditious phamplets for Indian consumption were

found.

Police, Kowloon, warned stations in Sub Area No of probability of War.

05.00 P.S.A. 203 Groves, Officer in Charge, warned per

sonally the following Europeans to evacuate:- Mr. Sheldon, the Russian family of the Manager t the Hume Pipe Company and two Russian families at the Texas Oil Company. L. S. E.35 Karpovitch a K.13 (Shing Mun Reservoir) warned Mrs. Jellovsky wife of the Manager of Messrs. Marsman & Co. (AL the women of these families evacuated as a resu and all the men except Mr. Vervkin who remained to look after the Texas Oil Company). Besides a personal warning all had a typewritten notice served on them, dictated to the Officer in Cha Tsun Wan by the Senior Superintendent of Police Kowloon, the same day. Coast Watching Organisa- tion was set up at the Station.
